Humphreys did it again! I just love her characters Marianna and Pete! If you haven't read the first books, the Amoveo are shape-shifting animal clans who live among humans. The book is a scholarly, thoughtful overview, and would work well as an introductory supplement to more comprehensive general histories of mathematics.
